Bill Kaulitz Tokio Hotel Review Solo Single

Attempting to forge a solo career direct from a band that’s sold over 10 million records worldwide and won every MTV award going (VMAs, EMAs, Enough-MAs) is no easy feat.

No, those words aren’t dripping with sarcasm. The truth is, despite providing a priceless international platform, the fame can prove something of a hindrance when it comes to forging a fledgling path and avoiding the “that guy from that band” label.

Who am I referring to? BILLY aka Bill Kaulitz. And if those names don’t ring a bell, then I’m pretty sure Tokio Hotel just might.

For those in the know (and aren’t sat there thinking I’m referring to some sort of misspelled Japanese short-stay accommodation), Kaulitz has been teasing the prospect of solo endeavors for a while now. The truth is, we just didn’t know what to expect – until now.

Love Don’t Break Me” is taken off his upcoming EP I’m Not OK (released 20th May), a track that demonstrates an altogether more mature pop sound. Kaulitz is not attempting to turn his back on the successes of the past in order to reinvent himself, merely building upon a proven formula, and guiding it in a slower, more electronic direction. He’s basically done what I like to call a Zayne Malik.

It’s a track accompanied by an equally impressive video. Directed by Shiro Gutzie and Davis Factor, the black and white visuals ooze romanticism, forming part of Kaulitz’s multi-media hybrid art project launched in LA last week.

It’s an interesting watch (and listen), so click play and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
