Yacht Punk

Our world cup dreams may be well and truly over, but fear not, for there’s plenty of other things to get excited about. Like, for instance, this delectably raw offering from the one and only Yacht Punk.

A bubbling blend of rough ‘n’ ready guitar lines and fervent drum fills, we’re excited to exclusively premiere fresh cut “A Dog of Dogs For a Ghost” right here on OSRS. Bristling with energy, the track is a nod to the chaotic order created by the gods of rock ‘n’ roll. Surging bass lines and soaring melodies combine to make, what we reckon to be, your searing new playlist addition.

The idea for the song came from a short story I read called The Haunted and the Haunters by Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton,” notes band member Graham Bockmiller. “It’s about a skeptical man who stays a night in a haunted house and is out to prove to himself that spirits don’t exist. He brings his favourite dog along with him. He pays for his brashness and skepticism when the ghost torments him throughout the night, leaving a humbled new-found believer. The ghost ends up killing his dog, a part I was not a fan of, but it made for a pretty metal short story.”

The brainchild of LA-based band Great White Buffalo’s Graham Bockmiller, it wasn’t long before he arrived at the realisation it was time to go it alone. Creating the fresh and vibrant sound of Yacht Punk that stands before us today, Bockmiller is joined by Michael Pozzi on guitar, Bockmiller’s roommate Tricky on drums (he’s an anomaly with no discernible first or last name) and Justin Ricard rocking up on bass.

It’s an exciting offering, one that’s well worth checking out. Discover the track below and let us know your thoughts!
