Hugo Fowler

Fresh out of the oven, today’s offering is served up by rising star Hugo Fowler.

A delightfully raw, off-kilter pop offering, fresh cut “Faking Lately” is a feast for the ears. Melding a touch of soul with alt-pop vibes and acoustic guitars, the offering is a steady venture into a land smattered with falsetto. Featuring a lively chorus that changes the track’s course, the cut is an intriguing soundscape, backed up by prancing synths.

“Faking Lately” finds its roots in exploring a difficult relationship and how the lack of self-love – or an individual’s self-esteem –can affect every facet of life. It’s a message to their partner as well as one to themselves,” notes Fowler of the track.

“The first line of the chorus rings “I’m so tired of faking my way through this lately, can you just love yourself more?” It begs a question: if their loved one only had more self-love then [would they] search for it in other places? The second half of the chorus echoes “…Can you just see what you are?” Is an attempt to pull their partner out of the misery and loveless state their in to see how incredible one can be with healthy and true self importance.”
