Into The Ark - Promo Shot (1)

Tuesday night saw Welsh duo Into The Ark leave behind the set of The Voice, in favour of an intimate London show at The Garage, Islington – y’know, ‘cos the best things come in small packages.

Despite a smattering of tech problems and feedback issues right off the bat, this pair – made up of Taylor Jones and Dane Lloyd – well and truly laid down the gauntlet when it came to their live performance. With barely a harmony out of place, the set list was a slow burner, blending their soulful rendition of Elvis’s “Burning Love” (the track that saw 3 judges turning during their first round audition) into a repertoire of original material.

It’s always enjoyable to see bands exchanging playful quips with the audience. None more so than when it came to asking which audience members were fans before their primetime TV appearance: “Most of you then?” remarked Lloyd,” That’s odd, I’m sure this place wasn’t half as full last time…” Predictably saving the best until last, “Brightest Creatures” was their crowning glory, throwing everything they had into the soaring choruses and foot pounding verses.
If this duo’s vocal abilities were ever in question (which, let’s be honest, they shouldn’t be by this point), then tonight saw them stylishly make their mark as unwavering performers.
