I had the pleasure of e-nterview the Spanish band called Parlement, and here is what came of it:
To those who don’t know you yet, how would you describe your sound?
It’s a mix between the British and American rock.
Could you introduce yourselves and describe each band member with just one word?
Javi studies art at the university of Granada, and we call him Metal simply because he likes heavy metal. Carlos sings and writes, and is also known as Charly. Raúl is a recording engineer and we call him Boss because he always acts like one. Stefan is the engine of the band, and is also known as Loco because he thinks he can do anything.
So how did you all meet and why did you decide to form a band?
We met randomly on the Spanish live and recording scene, started playing together liked it and so we formed a band.
Pretty straight-forward then… What does your song-writing process look like?
Stefan is in charging of writing the core of the song, plays it to the rest during rehearsals, and then everybody fills in and experiments with their own instrument.
What has been the highlight of your career so far and why?
Well, the fact that we have already received a lot of good reviews of our songs is really nice. Also one blog in Spain has chosen us as one of the most promising bands in Spain, which is also really, really cool.
It must feel great to get the support and recognition… What has been the most embarrassing event so far and why?
It must’ve been our very first concert, there were only like 3 people to see us.
Well, as they say (I still don’t know who “they” are exactly, but I keep quoting “them” rather often): If you can reach one, you can reach ten, then a hundred etc… Can you each tell us one fact about yourselves that not many people know of?
We all love hardcore metal!
What do you guys enjoy more, the recording process or performing live?
Performing live, because of the energy it gives us!
Can you tell us what we can expect from Parlement in 2015?
We’ll be releasing a number of singles, followed by an album. Also, we’re planning to play live a lot as well!
And last but not least, do you like Christmas and what does it mean to each of you?
To us it’s like a two-week period during which we have to slow down because the whole world does, when in reality what we want is for things to speed up, hahaha! That’s how we see it at least… Luckily we have a couple of live shows to play.
