Editors new single Frankenstein

The British five-piece have unleashed a monster.

Accompanied by a beat-heavy wall of sound, Editors have today returned with an anthemic offering if ever we heard it.

Fresh cut “Frankenstein” is blessed with a warped melody that twists into a soundscape you never saw coming. An up-tempo, fervent ride, the track can only be described as melding of electro highlights and rock undertones – all with a spattering of disco infused pop thrown in for good measure.

Described by frontman Tom Smith as, a song of joy and escapism – a cartoon song for the freaks, the different and for the night, the track settles itself comfortably in the midst of the band’s setlist ahead of this summer’s European festival performances.

With an intro that leaves you unsure whether you’re being propelled into a 20s film score or a 90s club hit (circa “Better Off Alone”), the track has a host of surprises in store, sending you off in a third, altogether unexpected direction.

We’ll be the first to say that on paper it sounds like a right royal debacle.

But with an identity that wedges itself somewhere in between the unrelenting rhythm and a handful of cataclysmic drops, the track propels the band’s sound to powerful heights.

You can catch a listen to “Frankenstein“, which was unleashed upon the world today, at the link below – and be sure to catch the band across the continent this summer.
