Hiya, Happy Friday! I want to make it even happier for you (yep, I’m that self-less) especially that you should be out having fun with your friends, and not sit by your computer reading random posts…
However, since there you are, I’d like you to have a listen to Groenland’s new LP “The Chase” (the deluxe version came out yesterday here in the UK, yet!). I love it and I hope so will you!
So let’s cut to the chase now, shall we? Groenland resemble a bit of Arcade Fire and a bit Kings Of Convenience. In other words there’s quality from start to finish. My favourite track (and apparently everyone else’s, judging by the soundcloud plays) is the opening tune called “Our Last Shot”. It will put you in a good mood (if you’re not there already by reading this little poetic piece of writing of mine) or at least in a better one. Your foot will start tapping to the rhythm (or not, depending on how musical you are) and you will want to press “repeat” when the song ends.
On a serious note, Groenland’s music is very poetic in both their sound and production. The arrangements are stunning, the songwriting is at a very high level and the vocals are enchanting… I know, from the praise I give them it seems like I have a crush on them. Well you know, maybe I do? They’re certainly crush-worthy… Don’t believe me? Hear for yourselves! Oh, and if you happen to be in Brighton, check them out at The Great Escape!
