Today’s offering comes to you direct from the heartlands of Scandinavia. Stockholm-based Factory Brains may still be in their infancy, but trust me when I say these three chaps have hit upon a unique and pleasantly surprising formula.
Their latest single “Down The River” is comprised of slow churning pop rock that carries one hell of a country twang. It’s not often that a warm and surprisingly pleasant sense of Americana finds itself seeping through your pores, especially one that still manages to identify itself as something other than another generic country pop act. With licks reminiscent of a Lady Antebellum / Band Of Horses hybrid and gritty vocal flecks that conjure comparisons to the likes of the Black Keys, Factory Brains have chanced upon a great looking formula.
The track’s accompanying video is also worth a mention. Featuring a refreshingly on point narrative (no cliché booty shaking, live performance footage or precarious titanic-esque dramatic cliff balancing in sight) its top-notch cinematography demonstrates precisely why quality visuals are worth their weight in promotional gold.
