Yes Ladies and Gents you did read the title correctly… In fact, they never really went away. Those three guys many of you remember from the old 90’s days of ‘Mmmbop’ and who sold over 710,000 copies of the single in the UK have evolved and created a great new sound.
Times have changed, and so have the band of brothers.
To date they have had 8 studio albums to their name, including their current offering ‘Anthem’. This album features tracks with a much rockier feel to them. ‘Get The Girl Back’ is the first single off the bands forthcoming album and is a distinctive track that embraces all the soulful elements from the past combined with an up tempo, rockier feel. The video stars Kat Dennings (Two Broke Girls) and Nikki Reed (Twilight) as two guys make a bid to win the girls hearts back. The video has a quirky element to it in the form of random strangers lip syncing lyrics to the men in question to help guide them in the right direction. Keep your eye out for a rather amusing sequence involving a dance off in the middle of a HANSON gig. (see video below)
All in all I think this is a cracking single that embraces the past sound of the band and has a new edge to it. I think people don’t give these guys enough credit for what they do and seem to merely associate them with their old sound. If you want a pleasant surprise give this track a listen – you will never think of the band as that same 90’s trio ever again.
