Anyone who knows me will say that i am a big fan of The Cab. This Vegas band have a hard hitting technically skilled drummer who goes by the name of alex johnson and along with the melodic voice of singer Alex DeLeon they combine to make a pretty awesome band. I fell in love with their first album ‘Whisper War’ which combined pop/rock with some chilled out melodies.
This is the first single called ‘Bad’ off their second album entitled ‘Symphony Soldier’. I am reluctant to admit i like this song purely because of the cheese level. Great pop, and thats the issue. They seem to have backed away from some of the quirky rock riffs and heavy metal-esque drum beats seen in the first album and chosen out-and-out pop. It is a little disappointing but as a whole the album is good, and generally i don’t like using that word but it’s true, its pop, its catchy, its good.
The band are yet to come to the UK partly due to the as yet unheard nature of the band this side of the atlantic. They are signed to Fueled by Ramen, the same label that has Panic! At The Disco, Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship and Paramore on its books. This is a band that will massively appeal to mainstream teen america, with a little cheese, a little pop and a sprinkling of pretty musician. I’d be interested to see if the live stan
