Huxlee Big Breath in artwork

If you’re after a hearty helping of indie-pop with all the trimmings, it’s time you grabbed an earful of Californian talent Huxlee.

Crafted from the tears of angels (ok, not quite, but I make a bloody good sales woman), latest single “Big Breath In” blends crisp harmonies and quintessential indie-pop vocals, with shifting electro undercurrents.

Introduced by a single male voice, “This one was written a long time ago // back when men were men,” the track’s concept, centring around various perceptions of masculinity, becomes all too clear. “You wanna fuck around and beat me down // And all the while you make your mama proud” sings Huxlee defiantly.

Hailing from Silverlake, California, Huxlee, AKA 24-year old Caitlin Notey, is a musician steadily building her craft. “Big Breath In” is a shining example of surging choruses that blend beautiful harmonies with a defiant and distinctly dark undercurrent – something that’s worth paying attention to.

Keep your eyes peeled for Huxlee’s new EP, Appetite, released on April 26th.
