There’s no doubt 2017 was a storming year for the UK music – well, Ed Sheeran mainly. Undoubtably covering his mortgage ten times over, four of the Top 10 biggest tracks last year were penned by the nation’s favourite guitar wielding ginger, which is precisely why it’s time to shake things up a bit.

We’ve scoured the internet, gone through online playlists with a fine tooth comb and spied on your listening habits with MI5 calibre recording devices (OK, so that last one’s a lie). Needless to say, we’ve had our finger on the pulse where emerging indie, pop and rock tracks are concerned.

Featuring a host of piping hot tracks, this month’s playlist (click here if you’re feeling impatient) features the creme de la creme of acts ready to set Q1 on fire. From the surging melodic force that is Soleima and NONONO‘s instantly infectious “Lost Song”, to the powerful punch served up by Norwegian flag bearer Sigrid, there’s no doubt that Scandinavia is spiking the water with some kind of magic.

The retro rebels that are Superorganism had a solid 2017, releasing a string of hook heavy singles that had us clicking repeat. And guess what? 2018’s looking even brighter thanks to the impending release of their debut album (released March 2nd). Not to mention the stand up comics that are MINT. “St. Oxford” may not be a January release but rest assured, these Grimsby lads mean business.

There’s no doubt One Stop favourites Anteros have set themselves up for big things this year. Following a string of infectious hit singles (“Love” anybody?) these Londoners are representing with their hook heavy Brit Pop vibe. Chart storming guerillas Sea Girls continue to pack an explosive punch with fresh cut “Heavenly War” (it’s dreamy), whilst London lads To Kill A King are ready to unleash their highly anticipated new album The Spiritual Dark Age (released January 12th).

And did we mention the ever brilliant Tove Styrke? An artist that continues to bubble away following her success on 2009s Swedish Idol, her latest cut is a cover of Lorde’s “Liability“– well, it was always going to be a crowd pleaser, wasn’t it? Add to that Joseph J. Jones (“Crawl” was a 2017 favourite) and our playlist is coming along nicely.

Esther Vallee continues to light up our speakers with her indulgent pop harmonies, speaking of which, Tom Walker continues to promote electricity wastage with the hook heavy cut “Light On“. Add to that Rae Morris who continues to impress on so many levels, and we’ve got a humble musical assortment who have made  themselves at home on our must-listen playlist.

Joined by the likes of Heavy Eyes, Mali-Koa, The Go! Team, Waterparks, Into The Ark, Ben Zaidi, Pussy Riot and The Hunna (who seem to be keeping Facebook’s ad team incredibly busy), it looks as though we’ve got a blistering 2018 in store.
