The Rolling Stones, Icona Pop and Tove Lo… just a couple of the incredible artists Swedish duo FELIN have recently worked with – pretty damn impressive right?!

Their über-cool aesthetic and edgy AF sound have made them the band on everyone’s lips. So we thought it about time One Stop Record Shop sat down with the pair to find out more over an e-beer.

Hi guys, care to introduce yourselves to our readers who may (or may not) know you?

Elin: Hey! We’re an audio-visual duo from Stockholm, Sweden. Playing loud and raw pop music. Fredrik Etoall is the F in Felin and the secret band member creating all the visuals and I’m the artist on stage and writing and producing the music.

It’s hard not to notice some of the massive names you’ve both worked with; Tove Lo, Icona Pop and The Rolling Stones. Do you think you’ve picked anything up from these artists that’s shaped your music?

Elin: We’ll you don’t get more rock n’ roll than The Rolling Stones – and Mick Jagger has such a stage persona! Everyone you work with inspires you in different ways.

Fredrik: Of course everyone you meet and work with for a longer period of time or people that have this special aura around them inspires me. You take the best pieces and bits out of these meetings and then you transform them with you own creativity into new ideas.

Your single “Gossip” is an awesome song, what’s the backstory to it?

Elin: Thank you! My teenage years weren’t the best to say the least. I think “Gossip” is my way of finding some closure and coping with the anger. It’s a song about how it still hurts but how it also has made me who I am today. I’ve heard it all so I can take it all.

Well you’ve certainly come out fighting! You guys have been labeled as an aesthetically cool band, what are your influences for the look surrounding the pair of you?

Elin: I’ve always loved NYC in the CBGB’s and Andy Warhol era. I think FELIN is a mix between both mine and Fredrik’s styles. In FELIN we get to do exactly what we want and create what we like. I think we both love the mix of elegance and dirty.

As 2016 is swiftly coming to a close, where do you hope to be this time next year in your careers?

Elin: I hope that this time next year I find myself on a tour bus, sweaty and exhausted after a gig on my way to the next city and the next show.

Finally, we just HAD to ask…Elin, a little birdy told us you have a very special admirer, only the Oscar winning Jared Leto! Is he really a fan of the band?

Elin: Well he’s a fan of me – or at least he has hit on me twice! But I’ve turned him down both times. I don’t think third time’s the charm either but he’s welcome to try and he’s always welcome to come see a FELIN show.
