Madeleine Dopico

When it comes to a smokey tone and dramatically building choruses, Madeleine Dopico has it nailed.

Her latest track, “Dance Alone” is a little on the deceiving side. With an introduction that features delicate vocals and the tinkering of ivories, you’re lulled into a false sense of security, before the urgent chorus sneaks up on you.

This ‘stripped version’ of the track (there isn’t an ‘un-stripped’ version, so we basically reckon that makes this the one and only version) was recorded in one take. The first record mixed and and produced by the singer in its entirety, Dopico swapped the studio for a Lower Manhattan bedroom when it came to recording.
