Danielle Deckard

Dulcet pop comes in all shapes and sizes. The slow builders that erupt into a monumental soundscape, and the understated, stripped back cuts that can morph themselves to fit a million emotions.

Today’s offering conforms to the latter. A slick and mellifluous offering dappled with glorious highlights, “Happy” is an indulgent offering direct from Sydney singer-songwriter Danielle Deckard. A bubbling mixture of HAIM and Gabrielle Aplin, this fresh cut certainly isn’t stingy when it comes to the hook department.

Lifted from her forthcoming album, the song expresses a feeling familiar to many young people today – that of being unsure of the future and their place in it. And while it might be easier to give up on your dreams and settle for less, the nagging question remains – “would that make me happy?”.
