Gallo Glam 7 Credit Piper Ferguson.

With a slick 60s aesthetic that’s set to infiltrate your eyeballs quicker than raw onion on a chopping board, Gallo is back with an indulgently infectious new offering.

Sugar Daddy” is a track that ticks all the boxes. Infectious pop hooks? Tick. Edgy genre crossover? Tick. Slick AF video? Tick. It’s as pleasing on the eyes as it is the eardrums, blending retro visuals with a contemporary pop-meets-urban-meets-alternative edge. Visually, it’s profoundly stylised, making for a visual that’s dropped headfirst out of a Quentin Tarantino film.

In fact, the track contains something reminiscent of Panic! At The Disco’s “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time” crossed with a Black Cards (Bebe Rhexa anyone?) vibe. The American-Lebanese musician has crafted a synth smothered fantacy (yet a far cry from some of the overwhelmingly electro offerings floating around the UK Top 40), with Gallo hitting upon a slick and interesting combination.

“I’m so in love with the Sugar Daddy music video,” remarks Gallo.  “It directly plays on the message I want my fans / viewers to receive which is to live boldly, fearlessly and never let go of your imagination… I always saw “Sugar Daddy” as being very cartoonish, very bold and bright in colors, with a 1950s / 60s vibe. Also, fantasy always plays a big role in my imagery. I want to create a world for my fans to escape to with me when watching my videos, a world that always leaves them wanting more and wondering what’s around the corner.”

With her debut self titled EP, Gallo, set to drop August 25th, it’ll be interesting to see what else this retro-pop queen cooks up in her kitchen.
