Dropping a soaring indie anthem in our lap, US four-piece, The Drives, are shunning their nations knack for slick production, in favour of a rough ‘n’ ready British sound.
“If We’re So Modern” is an electrifying new single highlights the band’s talent for creating infectious melodies and combining them with stadium-friendly riffs. It’s raw, it’s rock and it’s packed with reverb.
“Andrew started writing this song after seeing the movie 20th Century Women and got inspired to write a coming of age song about growing up as a modern kid,” note the band. “It basically talks about growing up and trying figure out what it is that you believe in and what matters to you. We wanted the music to sound soaring and big like something you would hear at a festival or in a stadium.”
Having formed in early 2016, when the band began recording demos together in a small apartment, in Los Angeles. Channeling a range of inspiration, from The Strokes, all the way to The 1975, these chaps bring forth an infectious and eclectic sound.
