AWAZ Flavorz

AWAZ "Flavorz"

Synth heavy future pop – not a sound to normally fit the archetype of a One Stop favored single you might think? Well you’re right – in part.

You see the thing is, when a track like “Flavorz” drops on our laps after being given an extensive roughing up, the results sometimes soar far higher than the original ever did (or at least to our ears anyway).  Allow me to introduce AWAS, a band comprised of songwriter/vocalist Ariel Hill and producer/composer Danny Melonz. Hailing from the home of country, these two Nashville residents well and truly set off in an alternate direction, producing sticky sweet electro doused pop for the masses.

But when we chanced upon this live and unplugged version of the track, something just clicked. First and foremost Hill’s voice has an undeniable smoky quality to it. It’s a sound that could equally feel at home in a 20s jazz joint as much as in a modern day pop track. The raw guitar tops off this stripped down rendition, a track that is well worth a listen, if we do say so ourselves.
