Jurassic Pop

If One Stop Record Shop had to put its finger on a musical category it enjoyed over any other during its downtime, the answer would have to be alternative musical comedy.

It’s an area whose products come in all shapes and sizes; whether it be a band of axe-wielding Finnish rockers from the Ice-Age who have recently been de-thawed in time for Eurovision, Casetteboy’s David Cameron remixes, or as in this case, a bunch of T-Rex’s covering a 90s pop classic like Ace Of Bass’All That She Wants“. Yes, you did read that correctly, and no, I’m not talking about the legendary 80s rock band.

The aptly named “All That She Wants (Is Robert Muldoon)” is an alternative and slightly bemusing dedication to Jurassic Park’s most renowned game keeper. To put it in basic terms, it pretty much sounds like someone placed Nirvana’s cast-offs, every Eurovision contestant from the 90s, and a victim of Robert Muldoon’s wrong-doings in a blender and served you the result.

The track has even being described as “a ‘beautiful’ cover of the Ace Of Base hit, but (obviously) it’s taken from the point of view of being a raptor, [it] is all about ripping the shit out of Robert Muldoon,” by the boys themselves.

If Jurassic Pop’s single simply isn’t enough for you, then you’ll be happy to know their debut EP (yup, you can listen to their croonings all night long) is named Jurassic Park 5: The Erotic Adventures Of Jeff Goldblum and will be available from 16 October via Fierce Panda.
