Findlay Monomania

When it comes to cooking up infectious new music, Findlay has the recipe well and truly nailed.

Pairing vintage, lynchian-like visuals with slick, gritty vocal lines, new offering “Monomania” is a feast for both the eyes and ears. A roaring soundscape speckled with grunge-filled undertones, Findlay’s latest material features powerful choruses that harbour a strange sense of euphoria. Crafting a sound reminiscent of Florence and the Machine but with an altogether rougher, PJ Harvey infused edge, the infectious new cut boldly shows the music world her intent.

“This song is about the overwhelming obsession that comes with unrequited love,” explains Findlay. “When you love someone so much you become a manic and it’s the only thing you can think about. I think love like that comes along so infrequently you have to jump on it and pray for the best outcome.”

Directed by the one and only Ben Charles Edwards (creator of avant-garde short films featuring the likes of Boy George, Zandra Rhodes, Kelly Osbourne and Carl Barat) the track’s accompanying visuals were shot on 16mm film, depicting the highs and lows of a mysterious relationship that unfolds outside the confines of a car.

Taken from her debut album Forgotten Pleasures, the track is one for your Spotify playlist.
