Volkova Sisters

If you’re craving a sound that’s a little left field this fine day – possibly something speckled with alt seasoning and pounding electronic baselines? – then look no further than the intoxicating sound of the Volkova Sisters.

For those who recognise the name, yes, they have indeed borrowed it from William Gibson’s cyberpunk novel. For those who haven’t? Well, here’s some great new music that has nothing to do with literature you know nothing about. Win-win!

Fresh cut “Faceblind” is a searing hotpot of all things electronic, merging transient synths with eerie vocal lines that develop into something remarkably euphoric. Throw in some reverb and distortion for good measure and what you’re left with is an enthralling soundscape that packs a punch.

Formed of Gergely Kovacs, Daniel Sandor, Dalma Berger and Tibor Vangel, the four joined forces after discovering a shared passion for the electronic, melancholic sounds of 80s new-wave. Now residing in London, the Hungarian four-piece are set to unleash an album in the coming months. If this cut is anything to go by, it’s certainly given us an appetite for more.
