Arms Akimbo

Returning to our airwaves with armfuls of quality indie-rock, LA quartet Arms Akimbo are once again setting our speakers ablaze.

Fresh cut “Seven Mirrors” soars in true Akimbo style. Blending hook-heavy choruses with layered guitar lines that pack one hell of a punch, the band’s latest release is a curious and building affair.

“I sung some gibberish and no one in the crowd complained,” – Peter Schrupp

Smothered with reverb and just enough feedback to feed our rock sensibilities, the track came to life following an incident with an open mic night and an attention seeking loop pedal.

“I sung some gibberish and no one in the crowd complained,” notes frontman Peter. “Somehow landed on the chorus melody “Oh you gotta let me know.” It’s bizarre now to think how little thought went into the genesis of this song because it ended up permuting a ton between then and now, both sonically and lyrically.”

There’s an undercurrent of the infamous ‘ping pong song‘ to this track – if only down to the infectious nature of its plucky guitar loops. Taken from their forthcoming EP, The Wrong Kind Of Dance Party, released this Friday, it’s safe to say Arms Akimbo are back on form.
