Blending a sense of old school rock ‘n’ roll with a distinctly Baroque edge, former London Wasps rugby player turned singer-songwriter Danny Starr has returned with his latest single “Ease My Mind“.
Released today (17th Feb), the track blends pleading lyrics and cries of “If you don’t love me // If you don’t love me // Just say so” with smokey vocals filled with angst. It’s a bitter, rock filled affair, containing sparks of brilliance sandwiched between jazz drenched drum fills and poignant string sections.
Keeping us on our toes, “Ease My Mind” sheds light on a new side of Starr. Backing away from his previous track “Cupid’s Drunk”s Razorlight-esque edge and channeling an altogether older sound, the grit and heartbreak of rock ‘n’ roll is dragged kicking and screaming into the twenty-first century.
