Jesse Jo Stark Alana O'Herlihy

Arriving direct from the US with more musical credentials than we’ve had hot meals, So-Cal’s Jesse Jo Stark is turning up the heat.

Fresh cut “Fire Of Love” is a scorching offering that’s hard to ignore. A jagged pop crossover, the track intertwines infectious choruses with luring melodies brought to life by Stark’s crooning tones. Dappled with darkness, there’s a sultry undercurrent to her sound that can’t help but entice.

“I wanted to write an anthem with a lady stomp,” Stark explains of the track. Co-produced by Dan Taylor of The Heavy and Stark’s guitarist Thomas Hunter, the offering “tells the story of loss, but it’s empowering & fearless. The woman knows just what she wants from it. Musically, it represents the moment everything clicked between myself, Dan, and Tom. It’s magic.”

Paired with a vintage visual offering, it’s every inch a case of voyeuristic lust meets Día de Muertos. Invoking hints of LPX and a melancholic Lauren Ruth Ward, Stark has got us rubbing our hands ahead of her forthcoming 5 track EP (released 1st June).

“It heavily references many of my inspirations, ranging from a Salvador Dali still to Tarantino films, and is an ode to horror which Chuck so vividly brings to life,” she remarks. Simply put, it’s a sordid affair of the most delightful kind.
