Starling Profiteroles

We’re currently in magpie mode. Yup, today’s shiny little offering from British pop siren Starling needs to be snapped up, pronto.

Fresh cutProfiteroleshas been released into the world this very day and it’s an offering that’s just as rich as we’d hoped. Indulging us on #NewMusicFriday, the track sees sweet pop vocals reverberate over an unrelenting beat. Produced by Henry Binns, it’s a synth tinged offering that melds flecks of Florence and the Machine with soaring choruses reminiscent of up-and-comers Anteros.

“It’s a song about growing up in English suburbia and asking questions about the things that are so adult-ing,” notes Starling of the track. “Realising instead I need to ask what’s important to me not what’s important to culture – measure me – marry me – my purpose in life is not to stay thin or get a ring on my finger – it’s to make art and be kind.”

A dynamic pop offering bubbling with potential, the track’s accompanying video is equal parts captivating and intriguing. Directed and produced by Luke Courtenay Smith and Tim Hyland, the visuals can only be described as artistic dance meets quintessential Britishness abandoned on an overcast beach somewhere near blighty. Now try saying that in one breath.

Ripped from her forthcoming EP The Soul (released 22nd June) be sure to catch the video below!
