Rubblebucket

If you’re after something a little indie, a little synth-laden and possibly something with a little bit of edge this Thursday afternoon, look no further than this delectable offering from Rubblebucket.

Ripped from their new album Sun Machinefresh cut “Fruity” is exactly what it says on the tin. Undulating with fervor, the album’s first release sees bubbling synth intertwine with dreamy chords. What can only be described as an indie dreamscape, the track’s trance-like qualities drift to the fore, dancing amongst the sounds of summer sunshine and muted horns.

“The beat came from my cousin, Ben “Swardy” Swardlicksent, who performs as M Machine,” notes band member Kalmia Traver. “This beat was so fun to write over, the lyrics just bubbled out! Alex flipped when he heard the 60 second seed and we immediately wanted to develop it for Rubblebucket.”

Hailing from the US, new album Sun Machine documents the pain of Kalmia and Alex’s romantic relationship ending, yet melds into a euphoric celebration over their lasting connection. The result is a strange and beautiful paradox: is it a breakup album? Is it an LP rammed full of pop bangers? Is it a dreamscape worth of multiple repeats? You decide.
