The Jezabels

Introducing “The Others“, the fresh new track from Aussie 4-piece The Jezebels. Yup, that’s right, we’re in the midst of a week-long Aussie fest over on One Stop Record Shop.

A euphoric show of force, the groups latest offering is an indulgent indie showcase. In fact, it’s a sound I’m going to hail as ‘tinkering indie’. Why? Because it dances in all the right places whilst retaining that essential grit. Surging reverb-laden vocals and rousing guitar lines combine, creating a track that can only be described as a sonic gold mine.

“The Others”, recorded with the band’s long time producer Lachlan Mitchell, and mixed by Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, Crowded House), is the first track the band have released since 2016’s critically acclaimed album, Synthia.

The band explain: “We’re revisiting our romantic roots in this new song, though with a newfound directness. Lyrically it’s a reflection of the kind of intense loneliness that makes simply being in ones own body feel painful. The unsolvable predicament of ones desire for another crossing over into a desire to lose yourself, where the body is both the blissful point of contact, but also, the thing which keeps you constantly separate. Musically we have tried to sit that on a soundscape that is both euphoric and melancholy, driving but pensive”
