AKA George FKA George Barnett The Scream

Halloween may have been and gone but AKA George (FKA George Barnett) is clearly not ready to let go of fright night just yet.

Recent months have seen the pop-maverick churn out more tracks than you can shake a drumstick at, but in amongst the piles of discarded chords, bridges and bass-lines, a gem of a track has emerged in the form of “The Scream”.

The 21-year-old musical trailblazer shot to fame back in 2013 when his cover of Pharrell’s “Get Lucky” came close to breaking the internet. After attracting the attention of the big man himself (Pharrell is now a loyal twitter follower, alongside a host of top-notch names), George’s cover had amassed nearly 9 million views on YouTube – before he deleted the video. HE DELETED THE VIDEO. Luckily for us, the internet is a handy little place where you can find anything if you search hard enough, so here it is.

“The Scream” is a piano led track that shrieks urgency. Evoking a sense of bitter frustration, layers of highly compressed vocals combine with soaring levels of dirty distortion, to create a track that holds itself head and shoulders above the rest of Barnett’s recent work.

It’s a track that makes you want to climb onto your roof, rip open your shirt and scream, “I’m invincible!”– but we’d never encourage that, as a) you wouldn’t be covered by insurance, and b) we couldn’t afford the legal bill.

Anyhow, check out the stonking new track below and let us know your thoughts!
