TRACKS OF THE WEEK casette

No week is complete without the perfect soundtrack to accompany it – and that’s precisely where we come in!

LA’s Former Faces are starting things off on the right foot with “Weekend Mountain Man“. The latest single features on the band’s recently released EP Swimming in Circles, and blends infectious hooks with soaring guitars. Sub-Radio can only be sending us in one direction with latest cut “Up“, infused with infectious pop riffs and dosed to the hilt with Americana smothered falsetto. Go on, I give you ten seconds before the foot tapping begins.

MICKY has come storming into our line of sight with fresh cut “Sophisticated”. Combining soulful pop hooks with heavy licks of rock ‘n’ roll, MICKY is surely best described as a Fitz & The Tantrums meets Leon Bridges hybrid – with a spoonful of scuzz thrown in for good measure. Linn Koch-Emmery has only gone and indulged us with her new track, “Forever Sounds“, blending heapfulls of noise-filled fuzz with dulcet indie vocals reminiscent of Courtney Barnett or Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell.

Taken from Hayden Calnin’s upcoming EP Dirt, “Waves” offers up 3 minutes and 33 seconds of mellow and indulgent pop-infused electronica. The synthesised harmonies are a definite winner. Milburn offer up a rock infused guitar offering this week in the form of “Take Me Home“. Blending flecks of The Pale White with classic riffs reminiscent of The Enemy, this is a track to wrap your ears around. AIHVHIA are once again sending us into a frenzy with the intriguing harmonies of “Don’t Look Back“, smothered with wonderfully raspy vocals to boot.

One Stop favourites The Jacks have unleashed their new offering “Just A Little Bit“, blending HUGE choruses with even HUGER signature riffs. Foot tapping-ly infectious, The Jacks are a band to keep an eye on. Catch Air Traffic Controller‘s new offering “After Party” for a reverb laden offering. Surging bass drums and a steady beat make for a pop-tinged feast. Toronto-based Good Kid serve up a new offering in the form of “Witches” – a howling rock track that includes pacing melodies and energy packed choruses. It’s a cracking sound, sprinkled with a generous helping of pop that is the perfect playlist addition.
