Neon Waltz Live In Brighton

This week saw six small town lads by the name of Neon Waltz conquer Brighton’s Hope and Ruin venue with almighty force. Travelling from the comfort of John O’Groats at the very tip of the mainland, a town where the population “are all probably cousins”, these cheeky runaways were quite the treat.

Looking like they’d jumped straight out of a vintage 60’s episode of ‘Top of the Pops’, Neon Waltz modelled matching flicks and red Doc’s that would have sent Dorothy into a stupor. Uniting at school, the band have literally grown together. Their connection on stage, rare and endearing; jamming together as mates whilst hypnotising the audience with their smooth alternative indie rock (I managed to chomp my poised pen into pieces in memorization – ever the professional).

Often compared to ‘The Charlottes’ due to the daring bowl-cut do’s, Jordan’s flawless falsetto was reminiscent of Kodaline and The Kooks. Channeling old school electro-rock via their string lines and pounding drums, the keys injected the band with a compelling funk’n’soul twist that had you manically tapping your foot.

Having closed their tour in Aberdeen on the 2nd, I can certainly say these menaces are on their way to something extraordinary! Look out for their name in lights and tune into their favored track “Dreamers”.
