If we had to place bets on the artists set for stardom in 2016, our money would more than likely be thrust in Venior’s direction.

Hailing from the Nordic depths of Finland, she now resides in the only sensible place for a 20-something up-and-coming popstar with a shed load of talent – Stockholm. Her breakout track “Sugar Rush” is packed full of sky-high choruses, witty lyrics and more attitude than a room containing Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Pink and Joan Jett. This girl means business.

Splicing together hip-hop and pure-pop, it’s an intro peppered with the smooth tones of Selena Gomez, all whilst harnessing enough power to rival ‘it girl’ of the moment, Jess Glynne. That being said, Venior’s sound swiftly shuns all innocence in favour of a brash Rihanna/M.I.A-esque hybrid. Calls of “Hashtag glorified douchebag” boldly set out the singers intent, but don’t be fooled, Venior isn’t simply trying to replicate these pedestal popstars – she’s trying to topple them.

And topple them she will off the back of these first snippets of musical gold. Having been snapped up by none other than Sony Music in recent weeks, the only way is up for this raucous redhead. You can find out more about Venoir here and be sure to catch her suitably edgy video below, it’s officially been crowned our video of the week:
