Hailing from a “Pretend Land” – fine, it’s actually Phoenix, Arizona – Foresteater, AKA Mikey Pro and his band of merry men, are here with yet another hook-filled offering.

The fresh cut melds raw, infectious riffs with breezy melodies that can’t help but entice. Delightfully describing their sound as “Candygrunge” – which Pro says is “just to piss off hipsters” – the group have nailed the art of upbeat indie-rock with a side helping of mass appeal. Having released their debut EP Nightlife of the Exploding Heads in 2016, this fresh material is welcomed with open arms.

Speaking of the track Pro notes: “I didn’t plan on writing this song… I think I had become too overwhelmed with the ugliness and hopelessness I had been seeing and feeling since Trump came into office and there was no way this song wasn’t making it’s way out of me.”

It certainly makes sense considering the lyrics “I don’t pretend to give a damn like I’m a President/Can anybody turn the lights on now”. Pro continue: “It’s a song about feeling extremely hopeless and pessimistic about the future and self medicating to make yourself feel better about overwhelming things. It’s a song that remembers we are all just humans making it up as we go and that could be a very scary truth.”
